Here are some wonderful Irish folk tunes, arranged as duos for violin and cello with strictly equal roles. In other words, in every piece, the melodies (and accompaniments) are played alternately by both instruments. When the violin has the accompanying bassline, it has to be played with great vigour and resonance to make up for the fact that it is an octave higher than what would be an ideal bass register.
