Sarasate: Playera: Transcribed for Cello
Here is the sheet music for Sarsate’s magnificent “Playera” in a transcription for cello.
Composed in San Sebastian (Donostia) in the summer of 1879, “Playera” captures perfectly the magical shimmering languid atmosphere of summer at the shell-shaped beach (“Playa de la Concha”) around which this beautiful city is built. That same summer in San Sebastian, Pablo Sarasate also wrote “Zapateado“, the perfect complementing partner piece to Playera. Zapateado is the “fiesta”……. and Playera is the “dreamtime”.
