Duos for Violin and Cello
TRADITIONAL FOLK FIDDLE TUNES
The collection of traditional fiddle tunes, transcribed and arranged for solo cello + accompaniment, have also been arranged as duos for cello and violin. These are equal-protagonism duos in which, in every piece, the melodies (and accompaniments) are played alternately by both instruments. When the violin has the accompanying bassline, it has to be played with great vigour and resonance to make up for the fact that it is an octave higher than what would be an ideal bass register.
